Carlos Humberto Sagastume Madrid is the fourth generation of coffee producers in his family, whose legacy is intertwined with the region’s history. Don Constantino Madrid, one of the town’s founding members, began growing coffee many years ago. His son and grandchildren, following in his footsteps, worked tirelessly to expand the family farms and improve coffee processing practices.

Carlos has been involved in coffee production since childhood, and inherited the farm from his mother. Despite his young age, Carlos’ farm flourished. He credits his grandfather and uncles with unconditional support through this process. Learning about Pacas and Parainema, specialty processing, and the connection with San Vicente and the specialty market were instrumental in Carlos’ professional success.

This washed lot is an exceptional example of what Parainema from this region can offer - a clear and sweet cup with heaps of stone fruit juiciness. Roasted for filter brews to highlight the bean’s natural brightness, we taste notes of orange, stone fruits, and black tea.
