ADUMU AB

Taste: Strawberry . Raspberry . Cola

Origin: Kenya

Brewing Method: Filter

Process: Washed

This lot is a blend of coffees coming to us from Central Kenya - a spread of different key regions, all surrounding Mount Kenya. The soil around the mountain is known for its red colour and richness in minerals, making it ideal for coffee cultivation. Adumu AB is named after the famous Masai traditional dance. The Adumu dance honours the coming-of-age of young males, and involves the men jumping in the air to drums, chanting and clapping.

In the smallholder sector, harvesting is carried out by careful hand selection, with the coffee cherries delivered to the farmers’ wet mills the very same day. Here, the cherries are sorted, pulped, fermented, and washed under close supervision. The parchment is then moved to sun-dry on raised African beds, where it is regularly turned and protected from the harsh midday sun. The lots undergo a secondary processing at the dry mill, where the coffee is graded to extract the AB beans.

Roasted to highlight the coffee’s natural sweetness, we’ve ended up with a juicy, yet delicate cup. We taste notes of strawberry, raspberry, and cola.
